NEEDHAM, MA--(Marketwired - Apr 13, 2016) - More than 150 senior insurance executives from the nation's largest carriers attended the 10th annual Property Innovation Summit last week in Miami to hear world-renown speakers deliver presentations on ways organizations can better equip themselves for disruption, leadership, and innovation. The event was hosted by Enservio, the leading provider of contents claim management software, payments solutions, and inventory and valuation services for property insurers.
Property Innovation Summit Day 1
New York Times bestselling business author Don Tapscott presented a keynote on the digital economy saying how the insurance industry "is ripe for change." He mentioned the importance of turning consumers into "prosumers," defined as customers who champion the products they purchase by becoming producers. "Where will the insurance industry find leadership for change? By sharing and collaboration."
Jon McNeill, President of Global Sales & Service for Tesla Motors, and Chairman of Enservio's Board of Directors, next took the stage with a presentation on "The Impact of Autonomy." He shared Tesla's mission "To accelerate the world's transition to sustainable transportation," adding how Tesla's focus on "sustainable energy" is the new guiding principle.
Michael Parrish DuDell, bestselling author of "Shark Tank: Jump Start Your Business," presented "Winning Millennials: How to Activate and Engage a New Kind of Consumer." Says DuDell, "At 80 million strong, millennials are the largest, most diverse, most educated and most in debt generation in history." This generation represents a combined consumer buying power of $1 trillion.
Next up was Gary Sullivan, Vice President, Property & Subrogation Claims for Erie Insurance. He presented, "The Drones are Not Coming, They are Here." One obstacle preventing full adoption of commercial drones is the FCC rule that today mandates operators be trained and certified airplane pilots.
