LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - April 14, 2016) - SmartMetric, Inc. (
"With close to a billion personal records stolen in just 2015, and with a lot of these records having such details as social security numbers and other important individual identification details, the issue of account takeover and false account opening, particularly for credit card issuers, is a serious and present problem. Add to this the direct theft of financial information such as credit card numbers, expiry dates and CVV numbers that are collected in these record breaches and you have an unbelievable exploding nightmare in the financial sector," said today SmartMetric's President and CEO, Chaya Hendrick.
SmartMetric is the developer and maker of the next generation credit card that uses a person's fingerprint to activate the card holders credit card. The technology is based on the SmartMetric ultra miniature fingerprint scanner that is embedded inside the credit card and is used to identify the card user prior to the card being turned on. "We have brought the biometric fingerprint security now common on smartphones to the world of payments," said SmartMetric's President.
SmartMetric is now in talks with major national and global card issuing banks who have expressed a high level of interest in deploying SmartMetric's biometric in-the-card technology. The company is also going through the licensing and approval process with one of the major global payments networks that will allow its new biometric card to be used in ATMs and Point Of Sale card readers around the World. The SmartMetric biometric card works with the chip card (EMV) technology and does not require additional equipment or software on the part of card issuers and banks.
