The VoiceXML Forum Announces the Public Launch of the VoiceXML 2.1 Developer Certification Exam

PISCATAWAY, NJ--(Marketwired - Apr 19, 2016) - The VoiceXML Forum is pleased to announce the launch of the VoiceXML 2.1 competency-based certification for IVR developers. VoiceXML developers will be able to attest to their skills and expertise within the IVR community and to potential employers.

The VoiceXML Forum is the global industry leader that works to accelerate the adoption of VoiceXML and adjacent technologies since its inception in 1999. The Forum's Education Committee selected the most experienced industry leaders to create a comprehensive test for true professionals in VoiceXML development. All material has been thoroughly tested on VoiceXML 2.1-certified platforms to ensure compliance.

This Certification Exam expands upon a previous developer certification offered by the Forum to match the evolution of industry standards in the following ways:

  • VoiceXML 2.0 test material has been greatly expanded and revised for clarity.
  • Extended to cover VoiceXML 2.1 through comprehensive inclusion of assertions relating to material from the VoiceXML 2.1 specification.
  • Includes updated content reflecting the final draft specifications for the CCXML, SRGS, SISR, and SSML specifications.

Val Matula, VoiceXML Forum vice-chair, said, "Clearly more companies worldwide are using standards-based IVR technologies as part of their core business. This increases the demand for credible, experienced developers, and VoiceXML certification allows IVR developers to meet these growing needs."

Through use of the Kryterion Test Platform, the VoiceXML 2.1 Developer Certification Exam is available to anyone in the world. With the launch of the new VoiceXML 2.1 Developer Certification, test-takers will not need to locate a testing center in their area and schedule an appointment. Instead, developers are offered the ability to register and complete their test from any computer with an internet connection.

Matthew Henry, chairman of the VoiceXML Forum Education Committee, said, "Developing this certification gave us the opportunity to craft a real test of merit for developers, and one that is recognized by leaders in the IVR industry, in all areas of the world. We are very excited to open up certification to an unlimited worldwide market for the first time."
