MILTON, Ga., April 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Exide Technologies, a global provider of stored electrical-energy solutions, announced today that the Company has secured a new supply contract for military flooded storage batteries with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime, located in Columbus, Ohio. DLA is the U.S. Department of Defense's largest logistics combat support agency, providing worldwide logistics support, acquisition and technical services in both peacetime and wartime to the military services as well as several civilian agencies and foreign countries.
The new agreement between Exide and the DLA is a five-year Indefinite Quantity Contract consisting of a three-year base period with two, one-year options and a maximum value of $45,068,074. The Company will supply the Exide® Military 6TMF, 2HN, and 4HN batteries primarily for aftermarket replacement use in tanks, armed vehicle applications, and equipment for all branches of the U.S. armed forces. Exide will supply the batteries from its manufacturing facility located in Manchester, Iowa. These batteries will be delivered to military bases and sites across the United States through the Exide branch network.
