ACHESON, AB--(Marketwired - May 05, 2016) - SMS Equipment is deeply saddened by the effects from the Fort McMurray wildfires as well as the impact it has had our on our employees and their families. It is heartbreaking to see these types of struggles first-hand.
Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone involved and we would like to extend gratitude to our fire watch crews in 63N, emergency crews, firefighters, and other officials in the area.
"Safety is our number one priority during these difficult times. Everyone has been working very hard to ensure that our employees are safe and have been met with the necessities and support required," said Mike Granger, President & CEO.
In response to the devastating wildfires, SMS Equipment will be donating $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross relief efforts to help support affected individuals, in addition to providing support directly to SMS employees. SMS employees are already helping one another in various ways. We have implemented a home-matching process that pairs employees with available space with those in need of assistance.
We also remain optimistic that our community will be able to stay together and stay strong as we move forward into the weekend. The safety of our employees remains our top priority and we will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses.
