Ecotech Institute Expands With Launch of Ecotech Training

Ecotech Training, Formerly Kaplan Clean Tech, Collaborates With Renewable Energy College, Ecotech Institute, to Offer Flexible Options for Students Pursuing Education and Training in Clean Energy

BIRMINGHAM, AL--(Marketwired - May 17, 2016) - Education Corporation of America (ECA), which operates private, accredited colleges across the United States, is pleased to announce the launch of Ecotech Training, formerly Kaplan Clean Tech. ECA recently completed the purchase of the nationally accredited Kaplan Higher Education campuses (KHEC) portfolio, which included Kaplan College, now Brightwood College, Kaplan Career Institutes, TESST College of Technology, Texas School of Business, and Kaplan Clean Tech. With the acquisition and launch, Ecotech Training now serves as an expansion of ECA's Ecotech Institute, the first and only college in the U.S. solely focused on renewable energy and sustainability.

"The new energy economy is here and industry demand for individuals with the skills and training for clean energy jobs outpaces supply," said Chris Gorrie, President of Ecotech Institute. "More and more students are seizing this opportunity and want to be trained to work in renewable energy."

Through flexible options designed for different levels of experience and to meet diverse career goals, individuals can pursue education in clean energy in a way that works for them. Along with eight renewable energy degree programs at Ecotech Institute, Ecotech Training now offers individuals the opportunity to take courses in solar energy installation, energy auditing and LEED Certification. Students can take courses online or in-person at 32 different campuses across the country. Locations are in California, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas.

"Regardless of whether a person wants to get their foot in the door with a job in renewable energy, pursue a green career or enhance their current job with a green certification, Ecotech Institute and Ecotech Training will equip them with the training and support they need to be successful in this dynamic industry," said Gorrie.

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, solar will employ more than 420,000 workers by 2020 -- pumping $30 billion per year into the U.S. economy. The American Wind Energy Association projects that the U.S. could increase the number of wind energy jobs to 380,000 by 2030.
