Medecision Signs On as Founding Member of Accountable Care Learning Collaborative

Aims to Advance Accountable Care Implementation and Success

WAYNE, PA--(Marketwired - June 08, 2016) - Medecision, the leader in population health management solutions for risk-bearing entities like provider- and payer-sponsored ACOs, hospitals, IDNs and health plans, today announced support as a founding member for the largest accountable care collaborative in the world, the Accountable Care Learning Collaborative (ACLC). The nonprofit collaborative, housed at Western Governors University (WGU) and co-chaired by former HHS Secretary Governor Mike Leavitt and former CMS administrator and FDA Commissioner Dr. Mark McClellan, offers maturing Accountable Care Organizations insight into how to effectively implement accountable care and scale and grow clinically, financially and politically.

The first member meeting on June 8 in Washington, DC, sponsored by Medecision, convenes leaders in accountable care from various settings including hospitals and health systems, provider groups, insurers, associations and more, to share evidence of the industry's transition to value; discuss how the election and policies like MACRA are impacting accountable care; and show what the market can do to better predict and manage risk.

Currently, an estimated 28.3 million lives are covered by an accountable care arrangement. This number showcases rapid growth in the accountable care market, which further bolsters the need for an innovative roadmap to support this movement. The ACLC, Medecision and other industry movers and shakers will meet to identify, define and create a framework to help risk-bearing entities continue to pursue accountable care arrangements.

"It's time to transition from asking what to do to be successful in accountable care models to scaling the techniques and tools that drive meaningful results," said Dr. William Gillespie, executive vice president, population health and chief medical officer for Medecision. "Through associations like ACLC, Medecision and its innovative clients and partners can help define and optimize clinical workflow and financial tools that meet accountable care quality and cost goals."

At the meeting, attendees will hear from industry leaders and participate in workgroup breakout sessions targeted around the advancement of practical participation and meaningful results in accountable care. Key sessions and event features include:

  • Keynotes discussing the current progress the industry has made on the transition to value and how ACLC's goals will be supported through its founding members to continue to advance this transition;
  • Engaging breakout sessions for networking and collaborative brainstorming around topics central to successful accountable care, including care coordination; governance and culture; risk assessment and stratification; quality and process improvement; financial readiness; and patient-centered care;
  • Medecision's "Recharge Zone," where attendees can network with other industry leaders to discuss what accountable care goals, pain points and results they've experienced, as well as what solutions they've had success with; and
  • Discussions around the 2016 election and accountable care policy and what effects each has on the healthcare market.
