Elsevier Publishes Medical Epigenetics, New Landmark Volume in Translational Epigenetics Series

Also Introduces Four Other New Genetics and Healthcare Informatics Titles

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwired - June 14, 2016) - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the publication of Medical Epigenetics, a comprehensive new volume in its Translational Epigenetics series. Elsevier also announced the availability of four other new genetics and informatics titles.

Edited by renowned researcher, educator and author Dr. Trygve Tollefsbol, Medical Epigenetics is the most complete book on the medical aspects of epigenetics, focusing on human systems, epigenetic disease that affect these systems, and modes of treating epigenetic-based disorders and diseases. It provides stand-alone coverage of all human systems relevant to epigenetic maladies and all major aspects of medical epigenetics. This volume is useful not only to physicians, nurses, medical students and many others directly involved with healthcare, but also investigators in life sciences, biotech companies, graduate students, and all others who are interested in more applied aspects of epigenetics.

Dr. Tollefsbol is a professor of Biology and a senior scientist in the Center for Aging, Comprehensive Cancer Center, Nutrition Obesity Research Center, and the Comprehensive Diabetes Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is Director of the UAB Cell Senescence Culture Facility -- which he established in 1999 -- and a Steering Committee Member of the UAB Center for Aging. Dr. Tollefsbol's research interests have covered a wide range of topics such as aging, epigenetics, nutrition, cancer, telomerase and caloric restriction. More than 25 of the publications from his laboratory have received national or international accolades.

The five new genetics and healthcare informatics books are:

In order to meet content needs in genetics and healthcare informatics, Elsevier uses proprietary tools to identify the gaps in coverage of the topics. Editorial teams strategically fill those gaps with content written by key influencers in the field, giving students, faculty and researchers the content they need to answer challenging questions and improve outcomes. These new books, which will educate the next generation of geneticists and provide critical foundational content for information professionals, are key examples of how Elsevier is enabling science to drive innovation.
