CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwired - June 24, 2016) - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the publication of Storing Energy: With Special Reference to Renewable Energy Sources by Trevor Letcher, a comprehensive volume covering the various types of renewable energy storage for engineers and scientists. This up-to-date book on energy storage developments, along with seven additional new alternative and renewable energy titles, will be featured in Elsevier's booth # 307 at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME Power & Energy Conference & Exhibition, June 26-30, in Charlotte, NC.
Storing Energy discusses the needs of the world's future energy and climate change policies, as well as the various types of renewable energy storage, allowing readers to conveniently compare the different technologies and find the best process suitable for their particular needs. Numerous systems are addressed, including mechanical/kinetic, thermal, electrochemical and other chemical, as well as other emerging technologies. Incorporating the advancements in storing energy as described in this book will help the people of the world further overcome the problems related to future energy and climate change.
Dr. Trevor Letcher is Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He is a past director of the International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics and his research involves the thermodynamics of liquid mixtures and energy from landfill. Dr. Letcher was awarded the South African Chemical Institute's Gold medal in 1999, and in 2000 he received the South African Gold medal from the South African Association for the Advancement of Science. He has published more than 250 papers in peer review journals and has edited, co-edited and written eleven books on his research and related fields.
The eight new alternative and renewal energy books are:
- Storing Energy: With Special Reference to Renewable Energy Sources by Trevor Letcher
- Advances in Solar Heating and Cooling by Ruzhu Wang and Tianshu Ge
- Handbook of Biofuels Production, Second Edition by Rafael Luque, Carol Lin, Karen Wilson and James Clark
- Solar Power Generation by Paul Breeze
- Advanced Biomass Gasification: New Concepts for Efficiency Increase and Product Flexibility by Steffen Heidenreich, Michael Müller and Pier Foscolo
- Urban DC Microgrid: Intelligent Control and Power Flow Optimization by Manuela Sechilariu and Fabrice Locment
- Solar Chimney Power Plant Generating Technology by Tingzhen Ming
- Mobilisation of Forest Bioenergy in the Boreal and Temperate Biomes: Challenges, Opportunities and Case Studies by Evelyne Thiffault, C.T. Smith, Martin Junginger and Göran Berndes
Elsevier will be giving away a book a day at its ASME Exhibition booth, and will offer special conference discounts on new and related books.
In order to meet content needs in renewable and alternative energy, Elsevier uses proprietary tools to identify the gaps in coverage of the topics. Editorial teams strategically fill those gaps with content written by key influencers in the field, giving students, faculty and researchers the content they need to answer challenging questions and improve outcomes. These new books, which will educate the next generation of energy experts and provide critical foundational content for information professionals, are key examples of how Elsevier is enabling science to drive innovation.
