FARNBOROUGH, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - July 11, 2016) - Presagis today announced the adoption of its technology by Italy's Leonardo for the new Aermacchi M-345 HET demonstrator (High Efficiency Trainer Cockpit Demonstrator), which will be unveiled at the Farnborough International Airshow. The M-345 HET is a new platform designed to replace old generation jet and turboprop basic-advanced trainers. The aircraft is is powered by a Williams International FJ44-4M turbofan engine and features up-to-date avionics.
For the M-345 Cockpit Demonstrator, Leonardo used Presagis Creator content creation software tools to create entities, buildings, and vehicles and Presagis Terra Vista to develop high level fidelity scenarios and create multiple terrains from a variety of locations around the globe. The simulation also uses Presagis Vega Prime visualization running at 60 Hz on five channels in an immersive dome display.
The new M-345 HET demonstrator is based on the CDB (Common Database) format, which was recently adopted by the OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) as a best practice. The CDB makes use of several established data formats endorsed by leaders of the Aerospace, Defense, and Geographic Information Systems industries.
"We're very proud that Leonardo have once again trusted Presagis as a partner for this exciting new trainer program. We think that their repeat business and their adoption of CDB demonstrates the shared vision we have for an open and evolutive approach to simulation systems," said Stephane Blondin, Head of Product Management & Marketing at Presagis.
By working with the CDB open source data repository and open standard format, the team at Leonardo was able to seamlessly integrate all of the tools for the project, which allowed for a seamless and accelerated development process for the M-345 HET demonstrator simulation environment.
