EDF - Press release
EDF welcomes the decision made today by the High Court of Paris, which rejected the request by EDF's Central Works Committee to suspend the decision made on July 28, 2016, by the Board of Directors on the Hinkley Point project.
Moreover, the Chairman and CEO of EDF, Jean-Bernard Lévy, will bring a legal action against the Sud Energie union, which, in a message issued on August 5, inaccurately claimed that he had lied to journalists when he confirmed he had not known before the meeting of the Board of Directors of intention of the British government to conduct a further review of Hinkley Point project.
The company and its Chairman will take similar action against all those who communicate such inaccuracies.
Reading the entire internal email sent on August 2 by the Chairman and CEO of EDF to members of the executive committee confirms unambiguously that when the Company's Board of Directors was held, EDF and its Chairman had no knowledge of the intention of the British government to conduct a further review of the Hinkley Point project. All that was known before the press statement issued by the British government on July 28 was that the signing ceremony originally proposed for Friday, July 29, would be postponed. This potential date of signature had not been confirmed, and therefore had not been communicated either to the board nor the market. There was therefore no requirement to communicate its postponement.
