Watson to Speak on Changes to the Nutrition Facts Label at the Prepared Foods R&D Applications Seminar in Chicago


WEST HAVEN, Conn., Aug. 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Watson Inc. is proud to announce that Alice Wilkinson, Vice President of Innovation, will be a speaker at the Prepared Foods' R &D Application Seminar, taking place this month in Chicago IL. The seminar will be held at the Westin Lombard on August 16 and 17th and is a practical, 2-day applications-oriented event, dedicated to further educating the food & beverage industry's formulators on specific application challenges. Wilkinson's presentation will take place on the first day of the seminar starting at 11:50 AM.  The title of Wilkinson's presentation is "Meeting Label Claims".

Topics discussed in the seminar will include an overview of the 2015 - 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, issued by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Department of Agriculture in January of this year.  Wilkinson will also review the changes to the updated Daily Values for nutrients such as dietary fiber, phosphorus, and vitamin D, as well as the change in units of measure which will be implemented for some nutrients.  In addition, Wilkinson will provide information on the new mandatory label nutrients, such as choline, as well as changes to serving sizes.

Alice Wilkinson is one of the foremost industry-recognized experts in the field of nutritional formulation.
