Wines of Chile Partners with Whole Foods Market

Country of Origin Promotion to Run August 24 - October 11, 2016

NEW YORK, N.Y., Aug. 24, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wines of Chile, an organization committed to promoting the quality and image of Chilean wine throughout the world, announces a retail partnership with Whole Foods Market, to include in-store display and promotion, team member training and education and consumer engagement that will roll out to 300+ stores nationwide in August. During the promotional period of August 24 through October 11, Whole Foods Market locations across the country will highlight an expertly curated list of nine notable wines from Chile.

The program will introduce to Whole Foods Market shoppers the exceptional quality and value of Chilean wines – a broad spectrum of varieties chosen from the vast diversity of Chile's terroirs. Whole Foods Market global wine experts Doug Bell and Devon Broglie MS, have personally selected nine SKUs - single varieties and blends - from eight different regions across 600 miles of Chile's wine country. All stores will feature these selections for the two-month program and will promote sales of Chilean wine with in-store tastings, signage and other activities.

"Whole Foods Market's wine team is on a mission to provide shoppers with interesting, delicious and high quality wines, and the Chilean bottles we'll feature are a perfect example of that," said Doug Bell, Whole Foods Market's senior global coordinator of beverage. "Whether customers are familiar with the exceptional quality of Chilean wines or are just discovering the region, we're thrilled to introduce them to these bottles that highlight the artisan quality and distinctive varieties available, all for a great value."

Said Marybeth Bentwood, Executive Director of Wines of Chile USA, "Chile is the most exciting wine country in the world. It produces varieties everyone loves, at incredible price points, and offers something for everyone who loves to travel, whether it's hiking, skiing, surfing or winery hopping. There has never been a better time for US wine lovers to discover Chile, and we're thrilled Whole Foods Market will be introducing exciting wine producers to their customers."

Wines selected for the nationwide roll-out include:

• Odfjell 2016 Armador Sauvignon Blanc, Casablanca Valley
• Viña Errazuriz 2015 MAX Chardonnay, Aconcagua Costa
• Autoritas 2015 Pinot Noir, Valle Central

Along with national in-store display, giveaways, public relations, social media activity and an online sweepstakes will raise awareness of the program. LATAM Airlines will be giving away two round-trip tickets to Chile in an online sweepstakes.

"LATAM Airlines has the goal of bringing South America to the world, and the world to South America," said Pablo Chiozza, Senior Vice President, North America and the Caribbean for LATAM Airlines. "We are excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the variety and quality of wines that Chile has to offer with this collaboration with Whole Foods, and even better, to give one lucky winner the chance to fly with us to Chile to get the full, unique wine experience that the country has to offer. Chilean wines are well represented on our award winning Premium Business cabin in-flight wine list featuring emblematic varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Blends, and Sauvignon Blanc hand-picked for LATAM by South America's only master sommelier, Hector Vergara."
