BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 21, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avid® (Nasdaq:AVID) today congratulates its customers on their nominations and awards at the prestigious Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). As part of the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which took place on September 18 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the creative arts awards honor the behind-the-scenes crafts essential to television production.
Avid customers turned to the MediaCentral® Platform to create Primetime Emmy Award-winning and nominated productions including Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones and The Voice, relying on Avid Artist Suite audio and video applications to bring their creative visions to life.
Every nominee in the Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series category, including winner Tim Porter for Game of Thrones, relied upon the industry’s foremost editing solution, Avid Media Composer®.
For the second consecutive year, editors Kelley Dixon and Chris McCaleb were nominated for their work on the popular crime drama, Better Call Saul, using Avid Media Composer®. “The familiarity I have with Avid has been invaluable working on so many projects,” said Dixon. “The system handles everything I throw at it so I can be constantly creative!”
The sound mixing team behind Better Call Saul was also nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series using the industry-standard digital audio workstation Avid Pro Tools® to mix the series.
The picture editing, sound editing, and sound mixing teams behind Game of Thrones trusted Avid audio and video solutions to create the hit series. Sound post-production company, Formosa Group, used Avid Pro Tools for both sound editing and sound mixing for Game of Thrones. Re-recording Mixers Onnalee Blank, Richard Dyer, Ronan Hill and Mathew Waters were nominated and won the award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series, and Supervising Sound Editor Tim Kimmel was nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series.
Music Mixer, Randy Faustino was nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety or Series Special for his work on The Voice. He’s been a mixer for NBC’s reality TV singing competition since its first season in 2011. “For The Voice, I use the Avid VENUE | Profile System with VENUE Software and Pro Tools,” Faustino said. “My goals are always simple – to have the best sounding mixes possible on air, and for the producers to be happy with how the show sounds at home for viewers, and Avid helps me do that.”
“We are delighted that the industry’s top creative professionals continue to embrace Avid EverywhereTM and our proven and trusted audio and video solutions to create some of the most watched and loved shows on television,” said Avid Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Louis Hernandez, Jr. “Avid Artist Suite solutions give professionals the creative freedom they need to bring high-quality content to the TV screen. We congratulate all of our customers on their outstanding achievements and wish them continued success.”
