CHICAGO, Sept. 27, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tyler T. Ochoa, a Santa Clara University law professor, will speak at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago on October 7. A highly regarded expert in copyright law, he will discuss new developments on what can receive copyright protection in the U.S in his talk "Copyrightable Subject Matter: What Bikram Yoga, Cheerleading Uniforms, the Batmobile and a Chicken Sandwich Have in Common."
Professor Daryl Lim, director of John Marshall's Center for Intellectual Property, Information & Privacy Law praised Ochoa's scholarship which "has real world significance."
"We can expect his presentation to make a valuable contribution to the ongoing debate about copyright law," Lim said. Ochoa's talk is expected to discuss an upcoming U.S. Supreme Court case on copyright.
Ochoa joined the Santa Clara University School of Law faculty in 2003 and served as Academic Director of the High Technology Law Institute for the 2005-2006 academic year. He also clerked for the Honorable Cecil F. Poole of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He also litigated copyright trade secret and computer software cases.
