SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - November 28, 2016) - The Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union are continuing to "Pass It Along" to the community this season and reward five local charitable organizations with $5,000 each.
Fans are encouraged to nominate local charitable groups that they feel go above and beyond in giving back to the community via www.utahjazz.com/passitalong. One winner will be announced each month, from November through March 2016, for a total of $25,000 being donated to five deserving organizations.
"The Utah Jazz are proud to continue the 'Pass It Along' initiative with Mountain America Credit Union," said Jazz president Steve Starks. "Since the program's inception, $80,000 has been donated to non-profits doing great work in our community. We look forward to rewarding five more organizations this season."
The Paiute Tribe of Utah Native Youth Program, which encourages Native American youth to dream big, while providing support to prevent destructive behaviors, will be presented with a $5,000 donation prior to the Tuesday, November 29 game vs. the Houston Rockets at Vivint Smart Home Arena. The photo and check presentation will take place on center court at 5 p.m.
"Mountain America is proud to partner with the Utah Jazz in helping organizations that make a difference in our communities," says President and CEO Sterling Nielsen. "We invite everyone to nominate charitable organizations that deserve to be recognized in the Pass It Along program."
In addition to the $5,000 donation, the youth from the Paiute Tribe of Utah Native Youth Program toured the arena and shot hoops with Nielsen on the Jazz court prior to attending the second day of the 2016 Utah Jazz Summer League.
A total of $30,000 was donated last season to local non-profits through the "Pass It Along" initiative. The 2015-16 recipients included Neighborhood House, National Ability Center, Utah Honor Flight, Kauri Sue Hamilton School, Intermountain Healing Hearts and the Bradley Center.
