BELLEVUE, WA and INVERMERE, BC--(Marketwired - December 02, 2016) - DigitalTown, Inc. (
Effective December 1, 2016, DigitalTown has acquired a 100% interest in Appointment.com LLC.
Rob Monster, CEO of DigitalTown, commented on the deal: "Together with our acquisitions of Cloud.Market and Rezserve, earlier in 2016, this latest acquisition completes the technology framework for equipping cities and towns with a robust ability to buy local across what we refer to as the 5 pillars of Local: Retail, Services, Dining, Lodging and Property. The integration of Appointment.com enables DigitalTown to offer cities the ability to provide local booking for local services across our fast growing network of DigitalTowns. You can think of the future of Appointment.com as the OpenTable for everything, or the Expedia for service provider discovery."
Originally founded in 1999 by Max Fanderl, Appointment.com has earned a reputation for providing advanced online booking solutions for service providers. Appointment.com has vast experience with servicing customers across many verticals including education, food service, government, healthcare, home and garden, legal, and personal services. For service providers, the integration of Appointment.com means that service providers have access to a robust platform for complex bookings, e.g. a spa customer with 3 different treatments, in 3 different rooms with 3 different therapists, all with a customer-specified sequence.
Mr Fanderl explained, "I am very proud to see Appointment.com as part of DigitalTown. To an increasing degree, our lives are all about managing time and events. Technology has much to offer here and yet most service providers still do not offer online appointment booking. I am very excited to see Appointment.com becoming the scheduling and calendar engine for Digital Town. Appointment.com is a logical fit with DigitalTown, an integrated platform that helps communities to increase quality of life for residents and visitors."
The brand Appointment.com will continue to operate as a service of DigitalTown. In addition, Appointment.com technology for service provider discovery and booking will be integrated into DigitalTown's Global Smart City Network. Businesses will be able to sign up without fee, paying only for actual bookings, thereby making online booking a risk-free service that pays for itself, and accessible to service businesses of all types. Residents and visitors to cities will be able to use their Single-Sign-On to transact with services providers of all types and with one unified calendar integration.
