The meeting will focus on ways in which patient and family leaders and health system executives can use care culture to improve health outcomes, and explore opportunities to advance the evidence base for patient- and family-engaged care.
At the session, Planetree President Susan Frampton, Ph.D., will provide an overview of the forthcoming NAM Perspectives discussion paper titled, "Harnessing Evidence and Experience to Change Culture: A Guiding Framework for Patient- and Family-Engaged Care." In a panel of health care experts, Dr. Drenkard will provide a clinical perspective and feedback for how the framework will be used to enhance patient- and family-engaged care. Other panelists include Martha Hayward, lead for Public and Patient Engagement, Institute for Healthcare Improvement; Megan A. Lewis, Ph.D., program director, Patient and Family Engagement Research, RTI International; and Sherry B. Perkins, Ph.D., RN, NEA-BC, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Dimensions Healthcare System.
The Care Culture and Decision-making Innovation Collaborative meeting will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the National Academy of Sciences building (2101 Constitution Avenue NW) in Washington, D.C. The meeting is by invitation only.
