Interested educators may submit a short essay to ShareSpace describing how their ability to inspire children in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math would be enhanced by integrating a Mars Map into their classrooms. As a result of its first contest, Mars Maps are now in over twenty states across the nation.
ShareSpace's Giant Destination Mars Map™ is an interactive educational tool that promotes active learning. Suited for later-elementary-aged students, the 25'x25' vinyl floor map -- depicting the topography of Mars, its landmarks, and missions to the planet -- can be used on any large surface from a school's gym to a museum's lobby. The contest will open on the ShareSpace website Tuesday, December 6 and will close Sunday, January 15 at 11:59 PM EDT. Essays will be evaluated by a team of ShareSpace executives and qualified professionals based on need, impact, reach, creativity, and adherence to submission guidelines.
