President Trump, Border Wall, Virtual Reality, 360-Video and Drones Shape NAHJ en Español Convention of Hispanicize 2017

MIAMI, Jan. 26, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- President Trump, the Border Wall, virtual reality, 360-video and drones are among the hot topics for discussions and trainings at this year’s NAHJ en Español Convention at Hispanicize 2017. The eighth annual Hispanicize 2017 Week is taking place April 3-6 (www.HispanicizeEvent.com) and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists convention for Spanish-speaking journalists is set from April 4th through April 6.

The bilingual 2017 convention consists of a multi-faceted, multi-day platform that includes in-depth social media training for reporters, a student journalist news project and several days of content devoted to exploring issues that impact Latinos in media.

“This year’s incredible program will equip Latino journalists in the midst of an unprecedented period in American history that requires them to be better than ever and to leverage technology like never before,” said Brandon Benavides, president of the NAHJ.

“As a former journalist, I know first hand how vital it is for the NAHJ and Hispanicize to offer this kind of in-depth, exciting program that is heavily tech focused, in language and in culture,” said Manny Ruiz, founder and CEO of the Hispanicize Media Group that owns Hispanicize Event. “Like digital creators, journalists are the lifeblood of Hispanicize and that’s why we’re especially proud to host them with empowering sessions, newsworthy content and even red carpet events they can enjoy.”

Building on a legacy of top journalists that in the past have included Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez, Maria Elena Salinas, Mercedes Soler, Maria Hinojosa and Soledad O’Brien, among others, the bilingual Hispanic Journalists Showcase will also feature past winners of the Pulitzer Prize, Emmy Awards and more. This year Hispanicize 2017 will also bestow its highest honor, the Latinovator Award, on Noticias Telemundo and NBC News anchor Jose Diaz-Balart who will receive the award on Wednesday, April 5th.
