Colon Cancer Alliance and Bayer Present Annual "Big Colon Tour"

Nationwide Tour Includes Stops In Tampa, Dallas, and Gulfport, MS

WASHINGTON, March 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- From New York to Hawaii and Arizona to Florida, the Colon Cancer Alliance and Bayer are partnering to promote colon cancer awareness with the Big Colon Tour. The giant inflatable colon is back on the road for the sixth year this March kicking off Colon Cancer Awareness Month! The Big Colon Tour is a nationwide initiative to spread awareness about the importance of getting checked for colon cancer. What better way to teach people about colon cancer than with an inflatable colon that features various stages of disease (normal colon tissue, Crohn's Disease, polyp, malignant polyp, colon cancer & advanced colon cancer)?

The 2017 tour kicked off at The Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ on March 1, and will be stopping in more than 35 cities, with more that will be added along the way. At each tour stop, visitors can walk through a larger-than-life inflatable colon and pick up materials related to colon health and cancer prevention.

"This tour is so important because it allows people who may not be familiar with colon health a fun, interactive way to get up close and personal with a part of their bodies that isn't always discussed," says Patrice Brown, Senior Director of Program Development for the Colon Cancer Alliance. "Through this type of engaged learning, we hope people will be more inclined to discuss colon health with their doctor and get screened."

Did you know that there are other screening options than just a colonoscopy – it's true! Check out the schedule to see if the Big Colon Tour is coming to your city. If so – we hope to see you there! Be sure to check back as the Big Colon Tour add stops throughout the year.

The Colon Cancer Alliance's mission is to knock colon cancer out of the top three cancer killers. This is accomplished by championing prevention, funding cutting-edge research, and providing the highest quality patient support services.
