23rd Annual Spring Life Settlement Conference Comes to Austin on May 14 - 16


ORLANDO, Fla., April 03, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) today announced the schedule and featured speakers for its 23rd Annual Spring Life Settlement Conference, to be held May 14-16, 2017, at the Omni Austin Hotel in downtown Austin, Texas.

This annual event was one of the first professional gatherings of professionals in the life settlements industry and continues to bring together a wide range of industry participants – including life settlement providers, brokers, service providers and institutional investors. This is the first time the annual event has been held in Austin.

“This year’s Spring Conference will focus on educational content related to some of the critical emerging business issues that our members are confronting, such as cybersecurity concerns and potential changes in tax laws related to life settlement transactions,” said Darwin M.   • Cybersecurity - Are You Prepared for the Bigger Better Future?
    Expert panelists Brian Casey, Jule Rousseau and Thomas D. Sherman will discuss emerging cybersecurity threats and the importance of thorough preparation by members of the life settlement industry.

  • The Digital Age: Cyber Insurance
    David Souders will address risk transfer strategies and insurance considerations for companies in the life settlements space.

  • How Do You Tax That? Procedural Issues for Life Settlement Transactions
    Industry experts Mark H. Leeds and James W. Maxson will address common taxation questions surrounding a variety of life settlement transactions and will take a deep dive into potential changes in tax laws that could affect the life settlement industry in the future.

  • Innovations in Life Expectancies
    David Marantz and other panelists will cover new and innovative strategies to estimate life expectancies, including tools that will help propose life settlements as a viable option to interested investors.
