College of DuPage Offers New Enterprise System Administrator Certificate

GLEN ELLYN, Ill., May 08, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The new Enterprise System Administrator Certificate program at College of DuPage helps students find entry-level positions within computer system administration fields.

An alliance between COD, Microsoft and Microsoft IT Academy allows students to use the Microsoft lab in the cloud for some of the curriculum as well as Microsoft software free of charge. Upon completing the program, students are prepared to take Microsoft certification exams at a discounted rate.

“College of DuPage already has successful tracks for Cisco and A+, so we decided to look into Microsoft and determine the best path toward certification,” said John Kronenburger, Associate Dean of Technology at College of DuPage. “The new Enterprise System Administrator program is a strong addition to what we offer. It provides a stackable credential that helps students expand their knowledge base, whether they are pursuing an enterprise career or are seeking cross training.”

Recently approved by the Illinois Community College Board, the new 15 credit-hour certificate consists of five existing Computer and Internetworking Technologies courses being combined in a new way, Kronenburger said. The Illinois Department of Employment Security projects an 11 percent growth rate in network and computer systems administrator jobs through 2022.

“By completing the Enterprise System Administrator Certificate program and the subsequent Microsoft certifications, students have many opportunities for employment in a growing market,” he said. “In addition to large companies, more and more small companies have enterprise systems that require skilled administrators to manage them.”
