MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - May 17, 2017) - Agosto Inc., a cloud services and development company and tier 1 Google Cloud Premier Partner, announced that its open source IoT message broker is now available on Google Cloud Launcher. The connection proxy enables businesses to implement rapid development of IoT applications using the widely-accepted MQTT protocol. MQTT is a de facto standard in machine-to-machine (M2M)/Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity protocol, and is ISO standard certified. The announcement was made during Google I/O 2017, taking place May 17-19 in San Francisco. Agosto is hosting a Google I/O extended viewing party today, from 11:00am-1:30pm CDT, live-streaming the event at the company's headquarters in Minneapolis.
"With MQTT, we've been able to increase velocity and reduce complexity for our IoT products and services," said Agosto Chief Technology Officer Paul Lundberg. "By making our message broker available on Google Cloud Launcher, others now have the opportunity to rapidly build simple but robust IoT features." Google Cloud IoT Core, announced yesterday on Google's blog, has effectively extended Agosto's original vision for the MQTT broker into a formal Google Cloud Platform (GCP) service.
Agosto's IoT connection broker is a component of -- and gateway into -- Google's Publish/Subscribe service, as well as the company's IoT (M2M) Accelerator, and can support any back-end service that an enterprise wants to run on GCP. It supports a broad range of GCP projects and IoT prototypes. For example, with smaller projects developers can rapidly deploy a single node of Agosto's MQTT to Pub/Sub connection broker, supporting up to 120,000 messages per minute for as little as $25/month for compute costs; larger production deployments with load-balanced brokers can support millions of concurrent connections and much higher throughput.
"Our clients want the ability to build scalable, functional prototypes using proven, standard reference architectures and tools," noted Rick Erickson, Agosto co-founder and executive vice president. "This is a high-performance IoT message broker for GCP that is simple to configure and deploy, which meets the enterprise-grade requirements of our customers."
Agosto developed an early proof of its message broker for GCP in 2016, investing significantly to analyze options, build out an architecture, define message adaptation, and explore the feasibility of integrating with Google Cloud Pub/Sub. The company received the Google Cloud 2016 Americas Partner Award for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Customer Success.
