Toronto, May 23, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today a new partnership with The Walrus through its AMI-audio television channel.

Premiering Sunday, June 11, 2017 AMI-audio will air The Walrus with Lloyd Robertson, a selection of readings from Canada’s preeminent general interest magazine with an international outlook. Hosted by legendary broadcaster Lloyd Robertson, AMI-audio transports listeners into the pages of The Walrus with a chorus of vibrant voices bringing to life essays, fiction and poetry from some of Canada’s best writers and artists.

Kevin Philipupillai, producer of The Walrus with Lloyd Robertson recognizes the depth of content in the magazine and the challenge in giving it a voice, “Our challenge is to re-create in audio form the feeling of curling up in your favourite armchair with the Walrus, a mug of hot chocolate, and a few great writers. So, we’ll comb through our line-up of professional readers to find the right voice for each story. And from time to time we’ll invite Walrus writers and editors into the studio to tell us more about a particular article”.

AMI-audio is honoured to be partnering once again with The Walrus, a long-time supporter of its reading service.  Shelly Ambrose, Executive Director and Publisher of The Walrus echoes this sentiment, "We are pleased to be renewing our partnership with AMI for this dynamic new reading program. At the Walrus Foundation, we endeavour to make our content accessible to all Canadians, allowing for a truly national conversation".

AMI-audio continues to strive to reflect all Canadians in its programming. John Melville, Vice President of Programming and Production at AMI celebrates The Walrus’ addition to AMI-audio’s programming; “Our commitment to make print content accessible to blind and partially sighted Canadians from national publications like the Walrus, is a cornerstone of AMI audio’s. The Walrus brings to all Canadians a unique perspective and depth on the many issues and stories published each month in the magazine and now broadcast and streamed on AMI audio”.

The Walrus with Lloyd Robertson will be available as a downloadable podcast in the iTunes Store. The Walrus will also make these podcasts available on their website.
