CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - May 24, 2017) - The Missing Children Society of Canada will be highlighting 10 cases leading up to International Missing Children's Day on May 25th with the hope that the public can help provide answers for our searching families.
Mekayla Bali
Mekayla Bali has been missing from Yorkton, SK since April 12, 2016. Investigators have been working hard and her family has offered a reward for information leading to her whereabouts, but her disappearance remains a mystery. Rumors have circulated that Mekayla is in either Regina or Saskatoon and several sightings and tips have been reported to police. These have all been investigated but she has not been found. At this time, foul play is not suspected, but her family wants to be sure she is safe.
In this case there are some things police know; particularly that she was last seen at the Saskatchewan Transit Company bus depot on 1st Ave. North in Yorkton on April 12, 2016, where she bought a meal between 12:15 and 1 p.m. at the Trail Stop Restaurant. Although she never boarded a bus on that day, she's believed to have left the depot between 1 and 1:45 p.m.
Also on the morning of April 12, Mekayla was seen at Sacred Heart High School, Terry's Pawn and Bargain on 3rd Ave. North, TD Bank on 63 Broadway St. East and Tim Hortons at 160 Broadway St. East.
Police are also looking for an adult man who may have been with Mekayla at the bus depot on that day and may have information about her whereabouts. Although he's not considered a suspect, police hope he can shine some light on what happened to the teen. He is described as having dark hair with a scar or scratch below his left eye. He's thought to be between 40 and 50 years old, between 5'10" and 6' tall with a stocky build and muscular arms. He has a tattoo on the tricep/bicep area of his right arm that appeared to be a circle with several designs and multiple colors and another tattoo below the back of his left elbow of a large cross surrounded by orange flames.
Mekayla Bali is a Caucasian teen, 5'2" tall and weighing about 114 pounds when she disappeared. Although she's known to change her appearance, she has reddish hair which she will at times wear down, pulled back, straight or wavy. Her hair can be dyed blonde or other colours and she sometimes wears teal-colored glasses and a teal infinity scarf.
She was last seen wearing those teal glasses, Joseph Seibel burgundy suede embroidery boots, jeans, a ruby gemstone ring, burgundy coat and her teal infinity scarf. She was carrying a blue plaid backpack.
It's believed she could also be using the name Mekayla Niebergall. She has turned 17 years old since her disappearance. Her birthdate is July 2, 1999.
The police contact in this case is Yorkton RCMP: 1-844-880-6518 and/or RCMP.FBali.GRC@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
