Cambridge, Ontario, June 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Attention: Environmental, agricultural, municipal, recycling & waste management reporters/editors
Toronto, ON – For Immediate Release | On June 22, the 6th Annual Water’s Next Award ceremonies were held at the Sheraton Centre Hotel, in Toronto. As part of the proceedings, Cambridge-based Lystek International was presented with two, national Water’s Next Awards – the first in the Project/Technology – Wastewater category and the second for overall Company of the Year. The awards were presented to the company in recognition of their market-leading technical solutions, customer satisfaction and numerous achievements in the sustainable management of biosolids and organics.
The Water’s Next Award program is the only national awards program to honor leadership across the entire water sector—including public servants, non-governmental groups, researchers, municipalities, and technology providers. Its purpose is to recognize individuals and companies that successfully work to change the way we treat, and protect, our valuable water resources. Since 2010, Water Canada has hosted the awards to help strengthen and celebrate the thriving, national community and to showcase Canada’s water leaders, champions, and innovators.
“On behalf of our entire team at Lystek and our parent company, the Tomlinson Group, we are extremely honored to accept these prestigious awards”, said Kevin Litwiller, Director of Marketing & Business Development for Lystek. “It is further rewarding to be recognized alongside all of the finalists in both of these categories, all who are doing amazing work to advance the responsible use of water and wastewater, not only here in North America, but around the world.”
Pressure to increase diversion of valuable, organic resources from landfills is mounting—as is the demand for alternative sources of energy. These materials can be converted into energy and utilized to power treatment plants, while reducing operational costs and greenhouse gases and transforming these facilities into Resource Recovery Centers. Lystek is expanding rapidly and is uniquely positioned to play a significant role in this movement. Its growing collection of cost-effective solutions are capable of helping generators divert hundreds of thousands of tons of biosolids and organics from landfills annually, converting them into value-added products and services.
“Lystek’s innovative technology transforms by-products from wastewater treatment into higher use products, including energy, turning a problem into a resource,” said Katherine Balpataky, Editor of Water Canada and Program Chair of the Water’s Next Awards. “Lystek is a leader in the journey towards a circular economy, and we are proud to honor their accomplishments in exemplary customer service through our awards program,” she said.
“As global populations continue to rise, we are compelled to better understand the fragility and limits of our natural resources. Water is a prime example of this, as are mined phosphates. This, in turn, leads to an increased level of awareness and interest in how we can leverage advanced science and technology to unlock the inherent value in organic “waste”. This has led to a bright future for Lystek as we continue to expand and provide communities with the ability produce, safe, nutrient-rich biofertilizer products, increase biogas production for green energy, and create cost effective, alternative sources of carbon for use in (BNR) treatment plant operations,” adds Rick Mosher, Chief Technology Officer for Lystek.
Lystek International Inc. is a leading provider of Thermal Hydrolysis solutions for the sustainable management of biosolids and organics. The multi-use, award-winning Lystek system reduces costs, volumes and GHG’s by converting municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities into resource recovery centers. This is achieved by transforming organic waste streams into value-added products and services, such as the patented LysteMize® process for optimizing digester performance, reducing volumes and increasing biogas production; LysteGro®, a high-value, nutrient-rich biofertilizer and LysteCarb®, an alternative source of carbon for BNR systems.
