On April 15, 1912, Titanic, the world’s largest ship, sank after colliding with an iceberg, claiming more than 1,500 lives and shaking the world’s confidence in the infallibility of modern technology. More than 100 years later, the Guangdong Museum exhibition will pay tribute to the tragedy in Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, offering visitors a poignant look at this legendary ship and its passengers and crew. The exhibition has been created with a focus on the Titanic’s compelling human stories, told through authentic artifacts and exacting re-creations of the ship’s interior. Delicate bottles of perfume, diamond button covers, china bearing the logo of the elite White Star Line, even a piece of the ship itself - these and many other objects collected from the wreck site offer poignant connections to lives abruptly ended or forever changed by one of the world’s greatest maritime disasters.

Highlights of Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at the Guangdong Museum include:

  • 302 artifacts recovered from eight research and recovery expeditions to Titanic’s wreck site
  • Featured artifacts, including  the crow’s nest bell, davit pulley and telegraph recovered from Titanic’s debris
  • A piece of Titanic that visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to touch
  • Newly redesigned room re-creations including a full-scale replica of the grand staircase. Dining room and class accommodations on board Titanic
  • Ability to view the latest video from the wreck site and understand how Titanic rest today

Upon entering Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, visitors will be drawn back in time to April 1912, when the Ship embarked on its maiden voyage.  They’ll receive replica boarding pass, assume the role a passenger and follow a chronological journey through life on Titanic – from the Ship’s construction to life on board, the famous sinking, and the modern-day efforts to recover and conserve the wreckage for future generations.
