San Antonio, Texas, July 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DC Partners today named Jordan Foster Construction the general contractor for the Thompson San Antonio Hotel and The Arts Residences, a $116 million, 20-level mixed-use hotel-condominium tower on the San Antonio River Walk set to bring luxury living accommodations to the downtown area. The developer also announced the opening of The Arts Residences Sales Center, located in the historic Tobin Center for the Performing Arts Administration Building, 115 Auditorium Circle, San Antonio.
“We are delighted to welcome Jordan Foster Construction to the outstanding team that will make the Thompson San Antonio Hotel and The Arts Residences a reality,” said DC Partners CEO Roberto Contreras. “Jordan Foster has the background, expertise and reputation for excellence this exceptional project demands.”
“We at Jordan Foster are excited to play a major role in creating this landmark mixed-use development,” said Jordan Foster Construction Executive Vice President Leland Rocchio. “The Arts Residences will bring an element of elegant downtown living to the area that has not yet been available in the culturally rich arts district.”
Jordan Foster Construction has had a vibrant role in building some of San Antonio’s landmark and notable structures. From the 20-story Vidorra, Vistana, and the Residences at La Cantera, to the recently completed Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio and the new Security Service Federal Credit Union Corporate Campus, Jordan Foster Construction takes great pride in working with visionary and talented teams to enhance the built environment of San Antonio and create remarkable buildings that improve the overall quality of life within the region.
With the development of the Thompson San Antonio Hotel and The Arts Residences, developer DC Partners is entering the San Antonio market for the first time. Teaming up with San Antonio-based Universal Service Group, the matchless development will create approximately 1,300 jobs and is slated to break ground this summer.
“This project is exciting for downtown and the Museum Reach of the river,” said San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg.
“With 1.5 million people projected to move to Bexar County over the next 20 years, this project adds an upper-income housing niche to the downtown market that will be attractive to business people,” said Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert.
Located at the epicenter of San Antonio’s vibrant performing arts district, the 337,000-plus-square-foot mixed-use development will sit on what is now a .66-acre parking lot at the intersection of North St. Mary’s Street and Lexington Avenue, across the river from the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and next to Hotel Indigo. The development will include The Arts Residences’ 66 luxury condominiums atop San Antonio’s first Thompson Hotel. Thompson Hotels, part of Two Roads Hospitality, is one of a collection of design-forward, boutique lifestyle hotels and resorts in locations such as Manhattan, Chicago, Nashville, Seattle, Playa del Carmen and Los Cabos. Three new Thompson hotels – The Beekman New York City, The Thompson Nashville and The Thompson Seattle – were included on the Conde Nast Traveler “Hot List 2017: The Best New Hotels in the World.” The Beekman also took home the award for “Best Lifestyle Hotel” at Hospitality Design magazine’s 13th Annual HD Awards in New York City on June 12.
With architecture by Powers Brown and interior design by Amass & G., the Thompson San Antonio Hotel and The Arts Residences will boast dazzling views of downtown, the San Antonio River Walk and the Texas Hill Country. The for-sale residences are priced from the $400s to over $4.5 million for penthouses.
San Antonio has long been known for its storied history and rich blend of cultures, but in recent years, an infusion of energy around technology, real estate development, entrepreneurship and creative enterprise has fueled the city’s growth. Companies moving to San Antonio are attracted to the river for corporate headquarters, and housing occupancy rates are more than 90 percent, driving up demand for downtown residences, especially among millennials. Today, San Antonio is among the top 10 tourist destinations in the United States and the fastest-growing economies in the nation.
Located in the historic Tobin Center for the Performing Arts Administration Building, the 3,800 square-foot sales gallery for The Arts Residences provides an enticing visual experience featuring a fully appointed kitchen and model bathrooms. Sales gallery visitors may view a 3-D animation video and 3-D architectural model of the landmark project under construction nearby. A selection room features all available finishes for flooring, countertops and backsplashes, organized as they are available for condominium residences. The sales gallery faces the San Antonio River Walk and is a short walk from the project site. It is open Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
