USACE to Undertake Melton Hill Lock Project

Intends to Award Contract to Certified Small Business


Nashville, Tennessee, July 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Nashville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), on Friday, July 28, released a presolicitation notice in which it announced plans to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) solicitation for a firm fixed-price construction contract for a certified small business contractor to complete work at Melton Hill Lock.

The contractor who receives the contract must return the raw water system at Melton Hill Lock to operational service by replacing waterlines, relocating pumps onto a new pump platform structure, and rehabilitating the electrical systems. When removing and replacing existing waterlines, the contractor, according to the presolicitation notice, must remove and replace associated valves, nozzles, strainers, and pumps; provide new electrical power and control circuits; and replace damaged conduits. 

The contractor who receives the contract must provide all plant, labor, and materials required to replace existing Melton Hill Lock washdown and gate spray pumps.

The anticipated NAICS code is 237110, Water and Sewer Line and Related Structures Construction, with a small business size standard of $36.5 million. The USACE in its presolicitation notice also estimates the project value at between $500,000 and $1 million.

The contractor who receives the contract must complete the project within 456 calendar days of receiving a notice to proceed, according to the notice, and the USACE anticipates releasing a full solicitation on or around August 17, 2017.
