Optum, New Directions Behavioral Health & Mental Health Center Of Denver Explore Bundled Payments & Capitation At Upcoming mhca Innovation Incubator

mhca & OPEN MINDS collaborate to help health and human services executives understand value-based reimbursement during quarterly national conference

Gettysburg, PA, Aug. 04, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- mhca will host their third quarterly conference of 2017 at the Grand Hyatt Denver in Denver, Colorado. The conference will kick off with a half-day session on August 8 focused on understanding the differences between bundled payment and capitations to ensure success in the evolving value-based reimbursement landscape. This session, part of mhca’s National Innovation Incubator Program, will feature firsthand experience from executives of organizations that are successfully working with value-based reimbursement contracts and have moved to bundled rates and capitation.

The session will feature presentations by:

  • Carl Clark, MD, President & Chief Executive Officer, Mental Health Center Of Denver
  • Darryl Donlin, LCSW, MBA, Vice President of Network Operations, New Directions Behavioral Health
  • Kelly Champ, Vice President of Network Strategy and Innovation, Optum Health
  • Monica E. Oss, Chief Executive Officer, OPEN MINDS

This half-day session will launch with a deep dive on bundled payments and capitation from OPEN MINDS chief executive officer, Monica E. Oss. The discussion will include what they are, how they are different, and how they came about. Following Ms. Oss’ update, attendees will hear the challenges and successful strategies for setting up successful value-based reimbursement contracts. The day will conclude with an interactive conversation with attendees about the differences in bundled payment and capitations and how to succeed with value-based contracts.

“The move to value-based payment is truly glacial (from a geological perspective) – slow in coming and changing the landscape greatly where it happens,” explains Monica Oss, Chief Executive Officer at OPEN MINDS and the chair of mhca’s National Innovation Incubator. “There are some regions where health systems are “all in” for value-based contracting, but the national picture is a bit more mixed. This Innovation Incubator will provide an update on where the market is at with value-based reimbursements and dive into the difference between bundled payments and capitation.”

Since August 2014, mhca Innovation Incubators have continued to provide leaders in the behavioral health industry with a unique opportunity to collaborate with peers and learn innovative strategies and techniques for remaining sustainable. Join mhca and OPEN MINDS at the next Innovation Incubator to give your organization the tools, tips, and tricks you need to not only survive, but thrive in the changing health and human services environment.
