UFA Signs Partnership with Australia’s automed

New Medication System to Transform Canada’s Livestock Operations

Calgary, AB, Aug. 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- August 14, 2017—Calgary, AB— Livestock producers in Western Canada now have access to a new medication system that will ensure accuracy when administering medication to their animals.

“Producers have never been able to medicate, record, manage and integrate all in one single step,” explains Rob Giguere, UFA Vice President, Commercial AgriBusiness.

“The new system provides a traceable, accurate, and tamper-proof way of administering and auditing drugs given to all animals from birth. It signals the end of under and over-dosing, as it integrates easily with existing livestock tools and farm management systems,” says Giguere.

UFA is automed’s Canadian partner that will distribute the product through its network in the agriculture sector in western Canada. Automed is the Australian agri-tech company that focuses on sustainable use of resources to raise animals that consumers can have confidence in.

By using the automed app, producers can synchronize with the delivery device, which enables it to deliver both a fixed and weight-based treatment. All treatment records are captured and securely synced with cloud technology, allowing for easy access at any time via a handheld device, computer or watch.

The partnership has been established after a period in which Canada’s federal government has moved to tighten the rules regulating the medication of livestock. David Edwards, automed co-founder and chief executive officer says that partnering with UFA was a natural fit.

“In the past 100 years UFA has continuously adapted and been at the forefront of new and innovative technology. They have established themselves as a reliable co-operative with strong community ties, providing excellence in all things agribusiness and petroleum. We are very pleased to have them join the automed team as our partner of choice and we look forward to making further strides together,” says Edwards.

“This is a wonderful example of how UFA is a pioneer in the agriculture industry, we continuously look for new ways to champion progressive thinking, agility, and collaboration and in this instance it is a true win-win for everybody,” says Edwards.

UFA will distribute automed and has coverage across the entire agricultural sector in the Canadian livestock hub of Alberta, along with the greater Western Canada. The system, already in use in Europe and parts of Asia, has received global recognition for revolutionizing the way medication is delivered and recorded.
