Inforce Computing releases Inforce 6420, an application ready platform with dual HDMI output and FullHD HDMI video input

FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 08, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

Highlights:

Inforce Computing®, Inc., a leading provider of modular embedded computing platforms and solutions, today launched an application ready platform, Inforce 6420™. Inforce 6420 is the first of its kind to join Inforce’s new family of application ready platforms to provide developers optimized features with production ready software. It supports FullHD HDMI input, simultaneous 1080p video streaming from multiple sources, and other critical features needed in telemedicine, video encoders, point-of-sale systems, video collaboration, and smart office solutions.

Inforce 6420 allows developers to easily go-to-market with its unique features needed for challenging video processing and video collaboration applications.  FullHD video input is achieved through a conversion chip from Toshiba which converts HDMI input to CSI.  With a HDMI source, such as a laptop or live stream, the device designed with Inforce 6420 can share the screens remotely to other teams for enterprise or education.  Medical professionals can plug in their laptop or computer into Inforce 6420 to analyze high resolution images.  This technology has also been seen in video encoder/decoder devices that take in FullHD video input and allows for a surveillance setup or multiple display applications to switch between several HDMI outputs.

This application ready platform has dual HDMI output for developers to take advantage of two displays rendering different content simultaneously.  Digital Signage is a market that continues to show its growth, and now developers can leverage the dual video output on two large displays or split screens with just one single board which can cut their cost in half.  This technology can also be used in Point-of-Sale devices using dual displays, where one display used by the employee while the customer sees a different image on the reverse display such as cash registers or gas station kiosks.

“Video conferencing and video collaboration solutions require specific features which typically require costly custom development.  Inforce is excited to share Inforce 6420 for developers to take advantage of HDMI 1080p video input, or enabling multiple HDMI video streams,” says Inforce Computing’s CEO, Jagat Acharya.  “Inforce 6420 is the missing link for developers designing conferencing, smart board, high end medical imaging and dual display applications. We have not seen anything on the market like this.”

Inforce 6420 takes advantage of the long-life Snapdragon™ 600 processor, a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., which features a quad core Krait™ 300 CPU @ 1.7GHz per core, Adreno™ 320 GPU, Hexagon™ DSP, and a dedicated ISP.  The Snapdragon 600 is the high-end processor on the Snapdragon embedded roadmap for longevity and delivers high performance, low power consumption, and rich multimedia capabilities.

Inforce has brought out rich features critical to these embedded devices including:

  • Dual 1080p HDMI out streams to simultaneously mirror or display independent videos;
  • HDMI to CSI conversion for 1080p HD video input from PTZ, HDMI camera, or laptop;
  • Dual stream 802.11 b/g/n @2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE 4.0;
  • IR receiver for remote control functionality;
  • Capture and playback video at 1080p HD, and;
  • Features to remotely control PTZ cameras.

This video conferencing single board computer supports Android Lollipop 5.1.1 BSP with a wide range of I/Os including 2 x HDMI out (1080p), 1 x HDMI in (1080p), Mic-in (ringer), 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x Gb-Ethernet, JTAG, and UART. This platform also supports with EMI shielding and ships as a kit for an additional cost.
