VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 03, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wavefront Wireless Commercialization Centre Society (Wavefront), a Centre of Excellence with offices in Vancouver and Toronto. has released new resources to support the growth of Smart Cities in Canada.
“Smart City Challenges & Opportunities” is a report that explores digital innovations being adopted by cities in Canada and around the world. Created with support from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), the report is available online. It includes:
- Learning from Smart City deployments
- Dealing with the “Cascading technology trap”
- Recommendations for municipalities developing Smart City strategies
An accompanying online resource, the Wavefront Smart Cities Showcase showcases more than 25 Canadian companies providing IoT solutions including smart grids, building management, governance and big data analytics.
Wavefront is connecting Canadian companies with Smart Cities opportunities globally by leading a trade mission to the Smart Cities Week Conference in Washington, DC, October 2-6. Six export-ready companies have been selected to take part in meetings with industry leaders, prospective customers and partners in Washington.

In the past year, Wavefront has hosted Smart Cities workshops and conference panel discussions, bringing together city officials and digital solutions providers from across the country.
