SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CipherCloud, the leader in cloud information protection, has joined the VMware Mobile Security Alliance to provide sensitive data protection across any device, any endpoint, and any cloud. CipherCloud’s integration with the VMware Workspace ONE™ digital workspace platform powered by VMware AirWatch® technology can address security issues in the era of digital transformation with mobile and cloud.
The integration of CipherCloud’s platform into VMware Workspace ONE delivers a new validated solution for stronger security and enhanced control of cloud applications and mobile devices, as well as cloud-based digital workspaces.
“As enterprises make digital transformation with mobile and cloud adoption, they face security and compliance risks,” said CipherCloud SVP Alliances Dev Ghoshal. “The integration of CipherCloud with VMware Workspace ONE provides a holistic mechanism for organizations to extend contextual intelligence from mobile to all clouds, delivering end-to-end information protection.”
The key capabilities of CipherCloud with VMware Workspace ONE include:
End-to-End Information Protection with Real-time Control. The integrated solution can detect sensitive content and protect it end-to-end, in the cloud and on the device. Enterprises can enforce real-time data access control on any cloud and on any device, with enriched contexts. If a user’s corporate device gets lost or jail-broken, the solution can selectively disable access to sensitive corporate data in real time to avoid the exposure. If a disgruntled employee downloads sensitive reports from a SaaS application such as Salesforce or Office 365 before leaving the organization, the solution can dynamically revoke access to that content.
Contextual Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). An enterprise can trigger 2-factor authentication selectively when a specific contextual factor, such as location, network, data or an abnormal user behavior is encountered. For example, employees logging into salesforce using an unmanaged device, or using a managed device but from a new location, could be asked to complete the 2-factor authentication process.
Threat Protection. CipherCloud actively monitors cloud activity, uses thresholds and machine learning to detect threats from insiders, privileged users and compromised accounts. The integration with IdP and EMM solutions enables the CipherCloud to provide a more holistic picture of the usage, and to enable threat detection across devices and applications. CipherCloud can also notify the EMM solution of suspicious users so that the corresponding devices are flagged for additional monitoring and authentication.
“Mobile Security Alliance members are committed to an open platform approach integrating APIs to simplify mobile security administration and remediation to enable customers with comprehensive protection against threats on mobile devices, applications and networks,” said Ashish Jain, vice president, product management, End-User Computing, VMware. “We welcome CipherCloud to the Mobile Security Alliance. With this integration, VMware Workspace ONE will be able to leverage the CipherCloud Information Protection platform and deliver a more contextual and secure end user experience."
