The conference will be held Feb. 11-14, 2018, at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa in Newport Beach, California.
Swarbrick, Notre Dame’s 12th athletics director, joined his alma mater in his current position in 2008. During his tenure, Swarbrick has spearheaded several groundbreaking initiatives. He developed and enacted the Campus Crossroads Project to expand Notre Dame Stadium, not only making it a year-round asset for the University but also enhancing the game day experience. The project included the construction of three stadium-adjacent buildings that enhance educational and student life spaces at Notre Dame, including a new home for the University’s music programs, a modern student center, new homes for the anthropology and psychology departments, plus a new digital media center. Portions of Campus Crossroads will be completed and opened throughout 2017-18.
Swarbrick led the charge to launch Fighting Irish Media, a major enterprise that delivers superior information and access to the university and its athletic programs via expanded production and distribution. Swarbrick also has established a sports performance division to support and improve the performance of Notre Dame athletes both on and off the field, expanded recognition of high academic achievement and facilitated the development of leadership skills via an enhanced student welfare and development division.
“The challenges of creating the optimum athletic experience for our own student-athletes as well as for our alumni and fans at events have never been greater, nor have they involved more options and opportunities, many of them in the technology space,” Swarbrick says. “Communication with our various constituencies is a huge priority, and so it’s essential we stay ahead of the curve when it comes to understanding how those stories and messages are best provided.”
Notre Dame has had incredible athletic and academic success as a result of Swarbrick’s leadership. His tenure in South Bend has featured the entrance of most Irish athletic programs into Atlantic Coast Conference competition, establishment of a 10-year relationship with Under Armour and extension of the university’s relationship with NBC Sports through 2025.
The Notre Dame athletics director has been recognized for his work several times, including receiving The Flying Edge Award from the NCAA in 2000 for helping to establish Indianapolis as the association’s new home. He was honored by the State of Indiana in 2001 with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award and in 2002 with the Pathfinder Award from Youthlinks Indiana. He is a longtime member of the Indiana Sports Corporation, including having served as chairman from 1992-2001.
“Jack Swarbrick’s impact on collegiate athletics and academia is undeniable,” said Kim Damron, President and Chief Operating Officer of Paciolan. “Having him share his vision and industry knowledge with the community at PACnet’18 is an honor.”
Prior to his collegiate career, Swarbrick spent 28 years as an associate with the Indianapolis law firm Baker & Daniels. He is a 1976 magna cum laude graduate of Notre Dame and graduated from Stanford Law School in 1980. He and his wife, Kimberly, are the parents of four children: Kate, a 2010 graduate of Saint Louis University; Connor, a 2011 graduate of Wake Forest University; Cal, a 2014 graduate of TCU; and Christopher, a 2015 graduate of Notre Dame.
