TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras, Dec. 18, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lacthosa with its leading brand Sula in the cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras saw a glimpse of solidarity at the beginning of the Christmas season. A large table was set were there was a special place, a warm plate and a friendly smile for more than 650 people. “A Table for All” is Sula's project to break bread and share a meal with beneficiaries from social projects and people living on the street.”
The project began in 2016 with the idea of sharing a plate of food at Christmas time with people who lived and worked on the streets. This is the second year that is done and Sula included more people to the table to bring in beneficiaries of social projects with whom the company already works, such as Prepace, Honduran Food Bank, Casa Alianza, Honoring Santiago and Damaris Children's Garden, Feed the Children and Emmanuel Children's Home, as well as people living on the streets in areas surrounding the company’s facilities in both cities.
A large team of more than 160 volunteers from Sula, took to the streets to invite the guests, set the table, prepare the meals, and organize the event: a meal that would include traditional Honduran food like warm tamales and sweet torrejas, juice, water and milkshakes, staples of Sula's products. They served more than 650 people during that warm Saturday morning.
For Fernando Guevara, one of Sula’s Volunteers, this activity is one of his favorites “because it allows me to share and serve people who need food, affection and attention and spend with them a quality time.”
The children of Prepace sang Christmas Carols and between laughter, hugs and gratitude the breakfast ended in a successful way.
