Nashville.city is Live

Nashvillians can now claim their share

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DigitalTown, Inc. (OTC:DGTW), is pleased to announce the official launch of Nashville.city. The shared-ownership co-operative is an innovative platform that provides residents and visitors with a means to actively improve local quality of life as they search, connect, share and shop within their community.

Starting today, residents are able to claim their free CityShares -- essentially co-ownership stakes in the Nashville city platform. There are a total of 10 CityShares shares for each legal resident of Nashville. The free CityShare claim period is scheduled to end on January 31, 2018. Additional CityShares are available for purchase at a discounted rate while they last. From February 1, 2018, the Nashville.city CityShares will be free trading to buy and sell.

From music to food and with a style of its own, Nashville has become a cultural destination. Today, with the introduction of Nashville.city, local residents now have their very own Google, Expedia, AirBnB, OpenTable, PayPal and Bitcoin – all in one digital destination branded in the identity of Nashville. Best of all, Nashville.city is to be co-owned by Nashvillians through the distribution and sale of blockchain-based CityShares.

Rob Monster, CEO of DigitalTown commented on the announcement, explaining, “AirBnB and Uber have shown the world the power of the Sharing Economy to tap the productive capacity of individual citizens in a community. Blockchain, and in particular Bitcoin, has shown the world the power of distributed ledgers as an efficient medium of exchange. With Nashville.city we are bringing together several of these success models while making it easier than ever for residents to play a role in the economic and social health of the community.”

Nashville.city is operated in cooperation with the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association (TnHTA).  Nashville merchants can sign up and benefit from a free storefront. There are no setup fees, no service fees, nor a requirement to be tethered to a conventional bank account or merchant account. Merchants of all sizes pay a low commission on sales with the option of redeeming proceeds to banks or major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

“We are excited to be partners with such an innovative company that has a vison to grow the smart web. It is a model that is truly remarkable and will help businesses, residents, and visitors have a one stop shop for search, direct reservations and local shopping. Nashville.city will be a cutting edge game changer for the industry that anyone can join. We are proud to be part of it,” said Greg Adkins, President and CEO of the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association.

To claim your CityShare, residents of the Nashville metropolitan area should visit Nashville.city/cityshares and complete the free claim sign-up form.
