TORONTO, Jan. 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Opus One Solutions, an Ontario-based global leader in smart grid software solutions and services, was recognized as a prestigious 2018 Global Cleantech 100 company by CTG (Cleantech Group) at the 16th annual Cleantech Forum in San Francisco last night.
The Global Cleantech 100 represents the most innovative and promising ideas impacting the future of a wide range of industries, according to the players in the market. Featuring companies that are best positioned to solve tomorrow’s clean technology challenges, the Global Cleantech 100 is a comprehensive list of private companies from around the world with the highest potential today to make significant market impact within a 5-10-year timeframe.
“At Opus One, we are focused on providing innovative solutions that help utilities integrate clean, renewable energy sources into traditional distribution networks in a way that creates a decentralized, more resilient grid. We are honored to be recognized by Global Cleantech 100 as a company that will change the future of clean energy delivery and consumption.”
- Joshua Wong, President and CEO of Opus One Solutions.
Opus One provides a suite of solutions via its GridOS® platform that allows electric utility partners to use integrated planning, real-time data and model-based planning tools to analyze energy supply and demand, optimize and manage available grid resources, and maximize capacity providing high grid reliability and resiliency. This information and integration is becoming increasingly important as utilities plan and manage higher penetrations of solar, energy storage, demand response, electric vehicles, and other distributed energy resources (DER).
“Canada is quickly becoming a world leader in clean-tech innovation and it’s wonderful to see Opus One’s growth, from being named an Energy Innovation Pioneer at CERA Week 2017 in Houston last year, to today, being named as one of the 2018 Global Cleantech 100. Congratulations to the entire team for your vision and leadership as we transition to a low-carbon future.”
- The Hon. Jim Carr, Minister of Natural Resources Canada
Transactive energy management is also a solution offered on the GridOS® platform and is key to unlocking the true potential of DER across the energy value chain, by calculating real-time value that resources provide to the grid. This encourages the deployment and adoption of a higher penetration of DER and enables new utility and customer business models, including transactive energy markets.
“Opus One Solutions is a leader in the creation of the world’s first Transactive Energy platform as part of the New York Reforming Energy Vision initiative,” says Hari Subramaniam, Chief of Strategic Growth and Policy with Opus One Solutions. “We are working to further this technology at home in Canada, and beyond, and enabling a more decentralized, de carbonized, digitized smart grid, leading to consumer-driven and cost-effective energy market.”
Opus One was selected from among a record 12,300 companies from 61 countries to make the list. The Global Cleantech 100 list is collated by combining proprietary CTG research data, with weighted qualitative judgments from hundreds of nominations, and specific inputs from a global 86-person Expert Panel.
“Congratulations to Opus One Solutions for their significant achievement in being named one of the 2018 Global Cleantech 100. It is because of companies like Opus One Solutions that Ontario has a strong and diverse cleantech sector with an ecosystem where innovators can advance and commercialize their concepts. It is their hard work that will lead to a cleaner, healthier environment and a better quality of life for Ontario families and people around the world.”
- Reza Moridi, Minister of Research, Innovation and Science, Government of Ontario
To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange. Companies were weighted and scored to create a short list of 312 companies. Short-listed nominees were reviewed by CTG’s Expert Panel, resulting in a finalized list of 100 companies from 18 countries.
