TORONTO, Feb. 28, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Leading experts in cybersecurity are addressing such pressing topics as frontline realities, risk management, and cyber talent challenges at this week’s CyberCanada Senior Leadership Summit. The event, which will takes place today and March 1 at The Globe and Mail Centre in Toronto, is cohosted by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the Council of Canadian Innovators, and the Centre for International Governance Innovation. The summit features globally renowned experts such as Michael Chertoff, a former US Secretary of Homeland Security; Melissa Hathaway, the leader of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative for US President George W. Bush and the head of the Cyberspace Policy Review for US President Barack Obama; and high-profile Canadian innovators such as Jim Balsillie, chair of the Council of Canadian Innovators. Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Ralph Goodale will address the participants in a virtual conversation, speaking about current developments in Canada’s cyberstrategy.
BCG panelists include Walter Bohmayr, a senior partner and the global leader of the cybersecurity topic; Michael Coden, who heads cybersecurity at BCG Platinion, and Toronto-based partner Vadim Gouterman.
“Potential cybersecurity breaches threaten Canadian corporations and institutions, yet much of the current discussion focuses on alarming threats and specific events,” says Keith Halliday, the director of BCG’s Centre for Canada’s Future. “The summit is providing enterprise leaders with tools and approaches for proactively managing risk and protecting valuable corporate data.”
Participants are invited to take part in an immersive cyberattack exercise led by BCG cyberexperts. According to Gouterman, “This exercise, which has been battle tested with boards and executive teams around the world, simulates a real-life cyberattack in which executives, acting as leaders of a hypothetical corporation, face critical questions, make real-time decisions, and learn from a facilitated post-attack discussion.”
