- Prestigious certification from Top Employers Institute reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to employee development
- DHL is one of only 13 companies worldwide to earn the Institute’s Global Top Employer award
TORONTO, March 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DHL, the world’s leading international express services provider, announced today that the Top Employers Institute has certified the company as a Top Employer in Canada for 2018. Additionally, DHL is one of only 13 companies worldwide to earn the Institute’s Global Top Employer award this year, which recognizes the company’s commitment to support and develop its employees worldwide.
The Top Employers Institute annually conducts a survey of human resources best practices around the world. A rigorous certification process handled by an independent audit agency reviews company programs in talent strategy, workforce planning, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, leadership development, career and succession planning, compensation and benefits, and culture. Top Employers must provide the highest standards of employee offerings and a forward-thinking human resources environment.
“It is our people that make DHL such a remarkable company to work for,” said Andrew Williams, CEO at DHL Express Canada. “A strong, motivated workforce is the most crucial component to our success. It only makes sense to offer our people many different ways to contribute and grow as DHL employees.”
DHL offers employees advancement opportunities, learning and development programs, and a motivational social environment that result in long-term satisfaction and commitment to the company. All newly hired employees go through a groundbreaking DHL Express Certified International Specialist (CIS) training program, which provides an introduction to the company and the industry, as well as other valuable learning to help them excel in their roles. In addition, all employees worldwide have easy access to various types of specialized training, support and opportunities for continued learning that can help further their careers.
One of many ways that DHL is helping employees work well together across different countries and cultures was through its DHL Americas Cup soccer tournament, the first of which took place in February 2018. More than 1,300 employees from across the DHL Americas Region traveled to Orlando, Fla., to participate in the companywide event, which promoted team building, friendly competition and camaraderie.
In addition, DHL engages employees in environmental-friendly volunteer opportunities, such as tree plantings in support of the company’s global One Million Trees per Year initiative. The company’s ambitious Zero Emissions initiative aims to eradicate production of all logistics-related emissions throughout its entire organization by 2050.
“Aligning HR strategies on an international level, harmonizing the employee experience and setting global standards in leadership are all necessary steps for a well-aligned centralization process. Our Global Certification process recognizes companies like DHL that strive to keep its employees engaged and in a great position to succeed,” said Hans Rothweiler, a board member of Top Employer Institute.”
This is the second consecutive year that DHL has received the Top Employer accolade in Canada and the fourth consecutive year on a global scale.
