Azul Systems Releases Zulu Builds of OpenJDK with Full Support for Java SE 10

Zulu is 100% open source with support for Java SE 10 plus Java 9, 8, 7 and 6

Sunnyvale, Calif., March 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Azul Systems (Azul), the award-winning leader in Java runtime solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Zulu builds of OpenJDK supporting the Java SE 10 specification. All Zulu production builds are tested using the OpenJDK Community Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK), are certified by Azul, and are free to download and use without restrictions. Azul also offers cost-effective Zulu Enterprise support plans for enterprises and developers who prefer to deploy open source technologies and require timely Java security and stability updates and bug fixes along with 24 x 7 x 365 access to Azul’s Support organization.

As with prior versions of Zulu and Zulu Enterprise, Azul’s Zulu version 10 supports all major Linux distros, desktop and server editions of Windows, and macOS across public, private and hybrid clouds and various virtualization and container technologies.

The launch of Java 10, only six months after the release of Java 9, highlights the change in the Java SE support and release schedule that was announced by Oracle in September 2017[1]. Both Java 9 and Java 10 are feature releases that only have six-month support lifecycles according to plans published by Oracle[2]. A description of 109 new Java 10 features is provided in a recent blog post by Azul deputy CTO Simon Ritter at https://www.azul.com/109-new-features-in-jdk-10/.

“The new six-month “feature release” train of Java SE provides earlier access to compelling new features and capabilities of the Java platform,” said Scott Sellers, Azul Systems president and CEO. “Azul is pleased to offer freely available builds of Zulu supporting the new Java version 10, as well as support for Java 10 in our commercial support offering, Zulu Enterprise.”

Availability and commercial support and maintenance plans
Certified builds of Zulu for Java SE 10 and prior versions of Java are available for free download (no registration required) at www.azul.com/zulu/download.

Azul recently announced its expanded commercial support offering for Zulu Enterprise[3], which provides broad coverage of all Java SE releases from Java 6 onward, including the recently released Java 9 and Java 10.  Zulu Enterprise lifecycles for specific Java SE releases are detailed at www.azul.com/products/azul_support_roadmap/
