DETROIT, April 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Detroit Tigers will present the seventh annual Pink Out the Park on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, when the Tigers face the Mariners at Comerica Park at 1:10 p.m. This special partnership with Kroger and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, along with media sponsors FOX Sports Detroit and Entercom Radio Detroit – WWJ Newsradio 950, 97.1 The Ticket, 98.7 AMP Radio, 99.5 WYCD and 104.3 WOMC – raises awareness of breast health, honors and remembers those whose lives have been changed by breast cancer, and pays tribute to moms as we celebrate Mother’s Day.
“The annual Pink Out the Park celebration brings Tigers fans together to recognize the courage of survivors, honor the memories of friends and loved ones, and raise much needed funds to support breast cancer research,” said Ellen Hill Zeringue, vice president, Marketing, Detroit Tigers, Inc.
The first 10,000 fans will get a pink Tigers hat, courtesy of Kroger.
“Kroger is proud to partner with the Detroit Tigers to honor and support all of the strong individuals fighting, surviving, and remembering those who have battled or are battling breast cancer,” said Rachel Hurst, director, Community Affairs, Kroger. “We are all in this journey together; let’s keep swinging!”
Numerous tribute activities will showcase moms and breast cancer survivors throughout the game, including: a special on-field, pre-game ceremony at 12:40 p.m. with more than 500 moms and breast cancer survivors on the field; ceremonial first pitches by three breast cancer survivors; in-game awareness promotions; and an inspiring full ballpark tribute with Pink Out the Park cheer cards during the fifth inning. In addition, select in-park merchandise sales will benefit breast cancer research at Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Pink Out the Park ticket packages at various price ranges are available now at www.tigers.com/pinkout and will include a limited edition Pink Out the Park t-shirt and a $5 donation to support breast cancer research at Karmanos.
“Thanks to the generosity of the Detroit Tigers, Kroger, media sponsors FOX Sports Detroit and Entercom Radio Detroit, and the wonderful fans, in the past six years, Pink Out the Park has raised over $115,000 to support breast cancer research at Karmanos as it continues to engage and educate more people to take charge of their breast health,” said Gerold Bepler, M.D., Ph.D., president and chief executive officer, Karmanos Cancer Institute.
“Please join us on May 13, wear your pink and continue to help us encourage breast health awareness and research that will benefit fans now and in the future.”
