IRVINE, Calif., May 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- From the snow-covered depths of the Black Forest comes an intimate culinary experience three centuries in the making - Gaggenau presents Restaurant 1683 Los Angeles with Three-Michelin-Starred Chef Daniel Humm. Taking place over three exclusive evenings, Monday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 23, 2018, guests of the invite-only event will partake in a one-of-a-kind epicurean experience that celebrates the heritage and culture of Gaggenau through innovative design and culinary enjoyment.
Restaurant 1683 will transport guests from the streets of downtown Los Angeles, the city where ideas are born, into the lush surroundings of a serene winter night in Germany’s Black Forest. The surprising design aesthetic pays homage to the region where Gaggenau, the maker of the world’s most luxurious appliances, was originally founded as an ironworks in the year 1683, offering a surreal and striking immersion into the history of the contemporary luxury brand.
“Restaurant 1683 brings to life the true nature of Gaggenau,” said Natascha Kruusi, Head of Gaggenau USA. “Our brand’s ethos is to inspire and bring together people with a passion for all things culinary and culture. Well-known for its creative and innovative history, Los Angeles is the perfect city for Gaggenau to tell its extraordinary story.”
The Los Angeles event marks the latest installment for Gaggenau’s award-winning 1683 series, which debuted in New York City in 2016. Chef Daniel Humm of the number one ranked restaurant in the world by the World's 50 Best Restaurants, Eleven Madison Park, will create an extraordinary menu with his team, artfully prepared tableside, showcasing the precision that only Gaggenau can provide.
"We’re looking forward to again partnering with Gaggenau to create this unique restaurant experience and to bring it to Los Angeles,” said Daniel Humm, Chef / Co-owner of Eleven Madison Park, NoMad New York and NoMad Los Angeles. “Taking this to a city with such a rich dining culture, one that we’ve been spending a lot of time in recently, and evolving what we did back in 2016 is something I’m very excited for."
The Restaurant’s moody atmosphere ignites the senses and takes guests on a scenic journey into the Black Forest origins of Gaggenau. The rustic interior design juxtaposed with the modern Los Angeles skyline reflects the brand’s admiration of functionalism, natural materials and luxury. A stunning lounge, positioned to capture the breathtaking views of a West Coast sunset, features a bar handcrafted entirely from a single pine tree, sourced directly from the Black Forest. The elegant dining room, an oasis from the modern world outside, is revealed nestled under a canopy of 22-foot-tall trees, surrounded by snow. The sights and sounds of a working metal forge placed in the center of the lofty space represent the brand’s rich history from hand-forged beginnings to its evolution into the pinnacle of luxury.
In the world of culinary culture, the difference is Gaggenau, which is why the brand has chosen to give back to those who make a difference in the world. For the West Coast event, Gaggenau is proud to support Operation Smile and welcome the organization’s brand ambassadors Brooke Burke, Jennifer Salke, Monique Lhuillier and Tom Bugbee, Roma Downey, Shea and Brian Bowen Smith, Susan Casden, Erica and Lior Zohar as hosts for the exclusive evenings.
