Minneapolis, Minnesota, May 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Edmentum (edmentum.com), a global education leader and a pioneer in online teaching and learning solutions, announces dynamic literacy programs, Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress, have been approved through the WIDA PRIME V2 correlation process following rigorous, independent reviews. Edmentum has also previously earned WIDA PRIME V2 approvals for it Exact Path and ESL ReadingSmart solutions. Positive marks recognize the commitment of Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress to providing a high-quality curriculum that serves young readers with diverse needs and aligns to best practices as outlined by the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards. The published correlations include detailed justification and examples from the programs to support each element of the PRIME V2 inventory.
These most recent correlations represent just two examples of Edmentum’s continued partnership with WIDA to help validate the quality of its programs and the ability of them to adequately serve the unique needs of English language learners. Additionally, Exact Path, Edmentum’s individualized learning program for K–8th grade reading, language arts, and math, and ESL ReadingSmart, Edmentum’s English-language proficiency program for 4th–12th grade students, have both earned complete WIDA PRIME V2 correlations.
“PRIME is an invaluable tool for assisting educators in making informed decisions on selecting high-quality instructional materials for language education,” said Edmentum Vice President of Curriculum and Assessment Development Christy Spivey. “Receiving validation on four of our programs through a third-party organization is an incredible accomplishment. We are excited to continue to provide the best possible programs for educators and students.”
The Protocol for Review of Instructional Materials for ELLs (PRIME) was developed to examine how the WIDA English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards are represented in instructional materials. The PRIME process evaluates materials against fourteen criteria. Key elements of the WIDA Standards Framework include:
• Representation of levels of language proficiency and domains
• Cognitive challenge for all learners at all levels of language proficiency
• Supports for various levels of language proficiency
• Accessibility to grade-level content
“Meeting WIDA’s standards shows our dedication to putting the educator first and understanding his or her needs when it comes to serving diverse student populations,” said Edmentum Chief Academic Officer Dave Adams. “Each student’s level of language acquisition is met with meaningful curriculum to help ignite learning.”
Edmentum provides English language learners with high-quality content to develop the language skills they need to succeed in an academic environment. By attaining such detailed reviews, Edmentum continues its commitment to being a part of a distinguished group of online learning providers that have completed the multi-criterion analysis.
