Los Angeles, CA, June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Claire’s Place Foundation, a non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF), is proud to announce that its 21-year-old founder, Claire Wineland, has been named the grand prize winner of Glamour Magazine’s 2018 College Women of the Year.
For over six decades Glamour has been honoring students making a difference on their campuses and beyond. Honorees have gone on to become renowned businesswomen, such as Martha Stewart, athletes, elected officials and more.
Claire is one of just 10 young women featured in the June/July issue for making a difference in the world. The editors of Glamour Magazine feature Claire’s near-death experience after a routine surgery, the founding of Claire’s Place Foundation at the young age of 13, aiding more than 100 people with CF to date and how she challenges stereotypes about terminal illness via YouTube and other channels.
“Everything I’m proud of comes from some of the darkest things in my life,” Claire says. “My purpose is to help more people feel comfortable with their pain and realize that they have a lot of power and a lot to give regardless of whether their life seems normal or not.”
The June/July print issue of Glamour Magazine featuring the 2018 College Women of the Year is on stands now.
