NEW YORK, June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ethics and compliance firm LRN Corporation has won a prestigious Telly Award for non-broadcast workplace education videos for its sexual harassment prevention course titled “What Happens in Vegas.”
“We’re honored to see our content team receive such excellent recognition of their hard work on workplace education, in which they always bring important, difficult workplace issues to life in creative, clear, sensitive, and informative ways,” says LRN’s Tom Bubeck.
The award-winning video, excerpted here, depicts a woman employee telling a story to her friend and colleague about a company off-site in Las Vegas, where she was subjected to unwanted touching and verbal abuse from a male supervisor. As she recounts the events, an animated flashback set in a colorfully lit nightclub featuring lively music brings to life how quickly something that starts as a fun event can move into an instance of abuse, and how quickly lines of decency can be crossed.
The woman employee then falls back on common rationalizations for why she shouldn’t report her supervisor: he’ll make sure she’s fired, she must have invited it in some way, or her complaint will just be ignored. The employee’s friend talks through why these rationalizations are incorrect and harmful, and ultimately convinces her to report her supervisor. This segment addresses common fears victims of harassment face when confronting the prospect of reporting their abuser and underscores the importance of holding harassers accountable for their actions.
Founded in 1979, The Telly Awards are an annual video award that reach across a range of channels, broadcast and non-broadcast alike.
