Who’s Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf? TNCO ACTS Seminar Helps Prepare Tennessee I/DD Providers For Success With Managed Care

Gettysburg, PA, June 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Who’s Afraid Of The Big Bad (Managed Care) Wolf? That was the question OPEN MINDS Senior Associate, Deb Adler posed to Tennessee provider organizations at this week’s TNCO ACT’s educational seminar in Nashville, Tennessee. The plenary presentation from Ms. Adler, “Succeeding in a Managed Care and Value-Based World: Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?” highlighted the June 19th TNCO ACTS event, focused on helping organizations navigate the upcoming changes in the Tennessee I/DD market. The one-day program also featured programming on partnership, collaboration, and merger strategies for success in an increasingly managed care and value-based care world.

“Self-assessment is an important first step in the process. Know how your organization stacks up in terms of the infrastructure needed to be successful with payers including performance and consumer outcome data, billing capabilities and workflow adjustments to manage new requirements, ” said Deb Adler, Senior Associate, OPEN MINDS. “It is important not to wait and to developing a clear roadmap to prepare to work with payers. ”

During her presentation, Ms. Adler outlined the ten guiding principles to successful mergers and collaborations, as well as examples of how other I/DD providers launched into their journey with managed care contracting–sharing lessons learned and best practices. Participants were advised to consider the power of their advocacy organization in both developing strong relationships with their payers, as well as identifying and promulgating key performance indicators that support value-based reimbursement. Before closing, Ms. Adler, the former Vice President of Network Strategy for Optum (now UnitedHealth Group), stressed the importance of developing a key performance indicator (KPI) dashboard to ultimately guide strategic decision-making organization-wide.

“TNCO ACTS is pleased to say our educational forum was a success! OPEN MINDS Senior Associate, Deb Adler provided invaluable content that our providers were able to take away, and without a doubt, will be able to apply to their practices in their organizations moving forward,” said TNCO ACTS’s executive Director, Robin Atwood. “We look forward to having the opportunity to working with OPEN MINDS and Deb Adler again in the future.”

Ms. Adler brings more than 20 years of experience in executive health care roles, serving in a variety of capacities including network executive, quality management executive, and chief operating officer, to the OPEN MINDS team.
