CHICAGO, Sept. 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Connectivity Wireless Solutions (CWS), in conjunction with Simplifi Wireless Group (SWG), has successfully installed modern DAS solutions at Michigan Plaza and 181 W. Madison. This brings dramatic improvements to wireless connectivity throughout both class-A commercial buildings.
The commercial real estate firm responsible for property management of the two LEED-certified properties, MB Real Estate, chose to have the new systems installed because of its commitment to putting the needs of its tenants first.
“MBRE is focused on employing future-ready solutions that allow them to provide the best possible amenities and services to customers,” said Thom Antonopoulos, EVP at Connectivity Wireless. “Their choice to install DAS at these properties not only satisfies the immediate connectivity needs of mobile-device users, but sets them up to succeed in tomorrow’s 5G-centric world.”
Construction at Michigan Plaza began in June of 2017 and was completed in a little over four months. The neutral-host DAS currently has two of the four major U.S. wireless carriers on the system with the capability to expand to all four. The new cellular system leverages JMA equipment, 31 remotes, 85,000 feet of coax cabling, 22,000 feet of fiber cabling, and 662 antennas to extend coverage throughout the 2+-million-square-foot office complex.
“We’re happy to bring Michigan Plaza’s tenants more efficient wireless connectivity no matter where they are in the building,” said Steve Hennessy, MBRE SVP and General Manager of Michigan Plaza. “CWS was a great partner and made the installation process as easy as possible for us and tenants with little downtime during the testing phase, which is very important for a busy office building.”
Construction for 181 W. Madison began in August of 2017 and was completed in fewer than three months. The first carrier was on-air within two months of the construction start date. This property also utilizes JMA equipment and 16 remotes, 26,000 feet of coax cabling, 13,500 feet of fiber cabling, and 400 antennas to enable pristine cellular coverage and capacity throughout the 1-million-square-foot, 50-story office tower.
“Our tenants spend a lot of time using our amenities for work and various other activities that make high-quality wireless connectivity very important,” said Krystal Kurinsky, MBRE SVP and General Manager of 181 W. Madison, “Installing modern DAS solutions helped us provide even better service to our tenants, and CWS made the process as painless as possible.”
The unique design and value offered by CWS allows all wireless carriers to operate on both systems with powerful connectivity. The design exceeded the carriers’ technical requirements, which allowed them to join the system more quickly and economically than if they had built it themselves.
With the new DAS solutions, Michigan Plaza and 181 W. Madison now offer the best in-building wireless service the industry has to offer. This puts the properties in a great position to handle the cellular demands of current and future technologies, ensuring the best, connected experience for their tenants, visitors and staff.
“CWS is a best-in-class organization for building owners to work with, ensuring the right solution and the right experience for tenants,” said Todd Landry, Corporate Vice President of Product and Market Strategy at JMA Wireless. “JMA Wireless’ TEKO® DAS is the top choice for buildings, delivering the best performance and greatest level of flexibility for future wireless technologies.”
