With the publication of his book, High Tide On Main Street: Rising Sea Level and the Coming Coastal Crisis in 2012, Englander established himself as a global expert on climate change. Military leaders, senior corporate executives, and various professional organizations all rely on Englander’s hard-hitting, plain language explanation of what to expect as the ice caps melt and the sea rises. He will continue in his role as President and Founder of the International Sea Level Institute, a nonprofit think tank and policy center.

Englander’s fascination with sea level began more than forty years ago, when he discovered ancient beaches, now two hundred feet below the surface, and dated them to just 15,000 years ago. That tied in with the natural cycles of the ice ages and fluctuations in sea level. His focus came back to sea level and climate change in 1997, after long discussions with the legendary Jacques Cousteau. They saw climate change, the oceans, and the rising sea level as a new message for the ocean planet. Cousteau hired Englander as CEO but sadly died just a few months later, before their plans could be put into effect.
Englander will join other public and private sector experts on Jupiter’s advisory board, which includes both climate scientists and industry leaders.
